Condemning the murders in France
It is clear that the perpetrators of these murders have not benefitted from Prophet Muhammed (pbuh)'s message and the core principles of Islam. Islamic ethics promotes protection of five fundamental rights for all individuals: life, property, intellect, dignity, and religion. Quran likens killing one person to the killing of entire humanity. Muslims believe that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is sent as a mercy to the entire creation. He showed respect and mercy not only to people of other faiths, but even to his enemies. At the height of his power, when he entered the city of Mecca as a victorious commander, he exemplified humbleness and forgiveness issuing general amnesty to all, including those who oppressed him and Muslims and killed his closest relatives. Therefore, those who engage in terror and violence today are in violation of the most essential principles of Islam and contradict the legacy of the Prophet.
These tragic events once again remind us that we are in need of embracing each other beside our differences, promoting peace and mutual understanding and standing in solidarity against violence and hate.
In the wake of these heartbreaking tragedies, we send our heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives and those sharing the same humanity values.
